You never think that it will happen at your library, in your community, or in your city. But it might. Don’t wait to create your active shooter response for your library system. Sustain your most precious resource – your library staff! This workshop will showcase how Ontario City Library developed an emergency response procedure for active shooter events and how you can do the same for your library. We will share how our library staff evaluated their library space and buildings, created a procedure, worked with law enforcement, and developed staff training with the objective to give library workers their best opportunity for safety and survival during an emergency. You'll receive sample active shooter procedures and hear best practices for developing or expanding your own policy. A content warning is in effect.
