Nick Higgins serves as chief librarian for the Brooklyn Public Library. In this role he oversees 61 branches of the system which serves 2.7 million residents. In January, he along with four of his colleagues, were named Librarian of the Year by Library Journal. This honor was bestowed upon the team because of their work on their Books Unbanned project, which has garnered much national attention. Nick is also known for his work on the New York City-wide, library-based video visiting service for kids with parents incarcerated on Rikers Island. Nick is a 2017 LJ M&S recipient.
