Cindy Chadwick

County Librarian
Alameda County Library

Cindy Chadwick, Ph.D. is the County Librarian for Alameda County, CA. Prior to becoming a Californian, Cindy worked at Arapahoe Libraries (CO), where she was named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker (2004) AND was allowed to drive the bookmobile, possibly her favorite job ever. Before entering the strange, wonderful world of libraries, Cindy received a Master’s Degree in Divinity from the University of Chicago and worked at a women’s shelter run by radical nuns on the south side of Chicago. In 2017, Cindy completed a Ph.D.at Simmons College with a dissertation on power and public libraries.
