Elena Smith is the lead reference librarian in the California State Library’s California History Section, a premiere special collection of Californiana. She has over 8 years of experience in helping patrons pinpoint archival resources useful to their research, and in providing remote resource access to out-of-town researchers. She has developed several materials processing programs designed to improve patron access to the library’s resources; created close to 100 research guides on various topics in California History and delivered innumerable talks to local historical and genealogical societies.
