Library staff know the impact of their collections and displays—and strive to empower young readers by providing vetted materials that respect their differences and similarities. Join this hands-on session to experience the Collection Analysis Toolkit from the California State Library’s TeachingBooks/Book Connections offering. With this state-supported service, you can always have insights into the genre, recency, cultural and curricular classifications represented in the books featured in your displays, programming, book clubs, youth service collections, and more. Throughout the session, you will practice using these tools. At the conclusion of this hands-on workshop, you will leave with both experience using the Collection Analysis Toolkit, and have a plan of action to work towards displaying diverse collections so that everyone feels seen and included in your library.
