Does your California Library Literacy Services (CLLS) program need support in rebuilding services and outreach after the past few difficult years? Do you want to ensure the sustainability of literacy services in your library? In the fall of 2022, dozens of CLLS programs across the state embarked upon an exciting venture by engaging AmeriCorps members, including Adult Learners on Staff, to build capacity in their programs. AmeriCorps members are recruiting and tutoring tutors and learners, helping learners engage in leadership opportunities, supporting family literacy and ESL programming, and doing outreach in their communities. AmeriCorps members are allowing CLLS programs to try out new ideas and perform activities they have always wanted to but have never had time to do. Come learn about how to apply to become an AmeriCorps program and hear from AmeriCorps members and supervisors about the many benefits of joining this statewide initiative.
