K-12 Online Resources Program Manager California State Library
Every librarian has seen that lost look on a youth's face, or the panic from the parent who's just been told the deadline is tomorrow and looks just as lost as their kiddo. It's first research-report time! Come and explore how to direct students to educational research and informational resources (aka library resources) that are appropriate for early researchers. All local libraries in California can provide over a dozen online resources at the library that specialize with different content and tools for a variety of ages, no cost to the local library (paid for by state education funds). Students can explore guided, curated, and age-appropriate research resources for elementary school, interesting subjects for secondary grades, first-person primary sources of diverse authors and illustrators for all ages, and much more. Once you get the students started, they can continue researching from home or school. (The parents will be grateful too!)
