Lea Aschkenas

Librarian
San Rafael Public Library

Lea Aschkenas is a librarian at the San Rafael Public Library where she leads a tween book club, conducts bilingual storytimes in English and Spanish, coordinates an ESL conversation club, and organizes children’s and adults’ author events. She is author of the memoir, Es Cuba: Life and Love on an Illegal Island (Seal Press, 2006), and the picture book, Arletis, Abuelo, and the Message in a Bottle (Star Bright Books, 2023). Lea also teaches poetry-writing with California Poets in the Schools.
