We Can Fix It at the Library

Since 2019 the Redwood City Public Library has partnered with the non-profit Fixit Clinic and the San Mateo County Office of Sustainability to host a popular community repair series. Knowledgeable volunteer "coaches" work side-by-side with event participants to repair anything from small appliances and electronics to bicycles, clothing, and children's toys. Sustainability is at the heart of every Fixit Clinic event: both keeping broken items out of the waste system and encouraging a mindset that seeks and values repair. Our partnership with the other organizations has been key to the sustainability of the program itself, allowing the Library to establish a recurring event series that community members can depend upon for timely repair assistance.
